India has extensive experience hosting major cricket tournaments, making it an attractive venue for a global women’s event. However, any India-hosted ICC tournament involving Pakistan would raise questions because of the two countries’ cricketing and diplomatic situation. The ICC has previously used a neutral-venue arrangement for India-Pakistan matches at certain events during the current rights cycle.
However, the current official plan is different: Sri Lanka is the confirmed host of the inaugural ICC Women’s T20 Champions Trophy 2027. The ICC has scheduled the tournament for February 14-28, 2027. Sri Lanka will be joined by Australia, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa, based on the qualification criteria confirmed by the ICC. Therefore, the earlier speculation about Pakistan and Bangladesh facing hosting-related complications in India does not reflect the current official tournament setup.
