Double Blow for Pakistan from ICC After Test Series Whitewash by England

Pakistan has suffered a major double setback after being whitewashed by England in the three-match Test series. The International Cricket Council imposed a 50 per cent fine on Pakistan’s players for maintaining a slow over rate during the third Test in Birmingham. Pakistan were found to have bowled 11 overs fewer than the required rate within the stipulated time.

As a result, ICC Elite Panel match referee Ranjan Madugalle imposed a penalty of 50 per cent of the players’ match fees. Pakistan were also deducted 11 points from the ongoing World Test Championship standings. The deduction pushed the team down to ninth place, with a points percentage of just 4.63.

Under the ICC’s regulations, teams lose one World Test Championship point for every over they fall short of the required over rate. Players are also fined five per cent of their match fee for each over of the shortfall, with the overall penalty capped at 50 per cent. The penalties imposed on Pakistan were calculated according to these regulations.
