Qatar has rejected allegations that it provided funds to influence Arab voters during Israel’s recent elections. Responding to claims of foreign interference and concerns raised by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, accused some Israeli political leaders and media figures of spreading false allegations against the country. He said Qatar was being dragged into Israel’s domestic political disputes and urged Israeli leaders not to make the country a scapegoat for their political failures. Al Ansari shared a detailed statement on X, dismissing the accusations against Qatar.
Israel has reportedly raised suspicions that funds from Qatar and Turkey were used to influence Arab voters and increase voter turnout during the elections. The allegations have also been covered by local media outlets. Following instructions from Israel’s Central Elections Committee to investigate the matter, the country’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, has launched an inquiry. Qatar’s response comes amid the ongoing controversy over alleged foreign involvement in the electoral process. The claims remain allegations, and the investigation is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding them.
