Supreme Court Makes Strong Observations in Rajesh Khanna Life Partner Recognition Dispute

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by actress Anita Advani seeking recognition of her relationship with late Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna as that of a life partner. The apex court upheld the Bombay High Court’s ruling that their relationship did not qualify as a relationship in the nature of marriage. Advani had approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s decision.

During the proceedings, the Supreme Court reportedly made strong observations and described the petition as “luxury litigation” before dismissing it. The ruling marks a setback for Advani’s attempt to secure legal recognition of her relationship with the late actor. With the Supreme Court upholding the Bombay High Court’s decision, the earlier ruling remains in place.
