Australian Former Captains Write Letter for Imran Khan

Seven former captains of the Australian cricket team have jointly written to Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Penny Wong, urging the Australian Government to raise humanitarian concerns regarding the detention of former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan. The letter was signed by Allan Border, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Belinda Clark, Kim Hughes, Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh.

The former captains said they were not writing as diplomats or political figures, but as former cricket leaders who felt compelled to speak out over Imran Khan’s situation. They urged the Australian Government to consider the humanitarian aspects of his detention and raise concerns regarding his circumstances. Their joint appeal has drawn attention because of the prominent names from Australian cricket backing the call.
