Land Irregularities Should Be Probed by a Sitting Judge – Raghunandan Rao

BJP MP Raghunandan Rao has demanded a comprehensive inquiry into alleged irregularities involving Section 22A lands, Dharani and Bhu Bharati. He said that if Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is found to have committed a mistake in the 22A issue, he should be dismissed. He also demanded an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into alleged irregularities under Dharani and Bhu Bharati. Raghunandan Rao further said that a white paper should be released detailing the assigned lands in every district, including how much land was allotted, to whom it was allotted and who currently controls it.

Raghunandan Rao alleged that the Revenue Minister and Chief Minister had given different statements on the 22A issue and questioned why officials responsible for mistakes had not been punished. Referring to the situation in Symphony Colony, he alleged that money was collected for registrations and said the issue needed to be addressed. He also questioned the government over claims that 43,440 acres were brought under Section 22A after the Congress government came to power and asked why cases were not filed against those who allegedly placed the lands under the restricted category.

He further questioned why details of lands listed under Section 22A were not being made public and asked the government to clarify where the alleged one crore acres under the category came from. Raghunandan Rao said the government should explain what action would be taken against those responsible for irregularities even after the introduction of Bhu Bharati and whether compensation would be provided to poor people who suffered losses. He clarified that speaking on a particular issue does not mean the BJP and BRS have joined hands, and said he considers neither the BRS a law nor Congress his enemy. He also stated that the Uniform Civil Code would eventually be implemented across the country regardless of individual preferences.
