Former Congress MLA Iravathri Anil Kumar launched a scathing attack on BRS leader Harish Rao over the condition of the Kaleshwaram project. Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Anil made controversial remarks against Harish Rao and alleged that his greed for money was responsible for the problems facing the project.
Referring to the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) findings on the Medigadda barrage, Anil said the technical committee initially considered repairs to the stilling basin. However, further studies reportedly revealed quality and construction deficiencies in the project, leading to a halt in the proposed work. He also alleged that the barrages were constructed at unsuitable locations without following scientific guidelines. Anil criticised the BRS leadership for holding the Revanth Reddy government responsible for mistakes made during its tenure. He questioned the party's demand to lift water despite the NDSA's advice against closing the barrage gates. He further accused the previous BRS government of compromising Telangana's interests in Krishna river water allocation and demanded an unconditional apology from BRS leaders to the people of the state.
