Kris Srikkanth Questions Team India Management Over Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sanju Samson

Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth has criticised the Team India management for leaving young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi out of the playing XI in the first T20I against Afghanistan. Srikkanth pointed out that Sooryavanshi had recently been named Player of the Series in the T20I series against Zimbabwe and questioned the decision to leave him out. He said such selection decisions could create uncertainty in the youngster’s mind and send the wrong message to players. Srikkanth also highlighted Sooryavanshi’s consistent performances across domestic cricket, India A, the Duleep Trophy and the IPL, and said the youngster should be encouraged rather than made to worry about his place in the side.

Srikkanth also questioned the way Sanju Samson has been handled by the team management. He said Samson deserves a longer run of opportunities and should not be dropped simply to accommodate another player. According to him, both Samson and Sooryavanshi should be given a consistent chance to establish themselves. He felt that repeatedly changing the playing XI without giving either player a sustained run could affect their confidence and prove difficult for any cricketer.
