Former South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn is widely regarded as one of the greatest and fastest pacers of his generation. Known for his pace, aggression and ability to trouble top-order batters, Steyn claimed 699 wickets across 93 Tests, 125 ODIs and 47 T20Is for South Africa. Despite his reputation, several batters managed to handle his bowling effectively. During a recent interview, former South African all-rounder Vernon Philander asked Steyn which batter he would still enjoy bowling to.
Steyn picked former Pakistan batter Mohammad Hafeez, revealing that he dismissed him 16 times during his career. Steyn also spoke highly of young Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, calling him a special player and a valuable asset for Indian cricket. He compared the youngster’s potential with legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, saying Vaibhav could become an even more destructive batter if he continues to develop in the right manner. However, Steyn stressed that careful management will be crucial for the teenager’s career, warning that failing to handle his development properly could create difficulties in the future.
