India's Manisha Bhanwala has stormed into the final of the World Wrestling Championships, keeping her hopes of winning a gold medal alive. In the women's 59kg semifinal on Thursday, she defeated Kazakhstan's Altyn Shagayeva with a dominant performance. Manisha established a commanding 10-0 lead before pinning her opponent to secure an emphatic victory. She will now face Abigail Elizabeth of the United States in the final. Meanwhile, Neelam (50kg) and Kajal (76kg) have already reached their respective finals but will have to settle for silver medals. In the 72kg category, Tanu Sharma kept her bronze medal hopes alive by defeating Tunisia's Zainab 5-4 in the repechage round. However, Ahila lost 6-9 to Turkey's Tuba in the women's 55kg quarterfinal.
In the men's section, Sujeet Kalkal suffered a disappointing defeat in the 65kg quarterfinal against Tajikistan's Kudiev. Despite the bout ending in a 3-3 tie, Kudiev was declared the winner after scoring the final points. Sujeet initially held a 3-1 advantage but conceded two points in the final 30 seconds, resulting in his defeat. Interestingly, Sujeet had defeated the same opponent in the Asian Games final after a dramatic comeback in the closing seconds. This time, however, Kudiev turned the tables. The defeat also brought an end to Sujeet's impressive 24-match winning streak.
