Global star Ram Charan and director Buchi Babu Sana’s film Peddi generated considerable expectations ahead of its release. However, the film reportedly received an average response from audiences. Janhvi Kapoor’s role also became a topic of debate, with some viewers arguing that her character was primarily used for glamour. While several celebrities had shared their opinions on the controversy, Janhvi had not publicly addressed it until now. According to reports, the actress recently spoke about the issue during an appearance on Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee with Karan.
Speaking about her role, Janhvi reportedly said that the way her character was portrayed in an overly sexualised manner had deeply affected her, particularly because of its potential impact on the representation of women. She also accepted that she shared some responsibility for what happened, adding that she should have raised her concerns more firmly during filming or refused to go ahead with certain scenes. She reportedly said that she should have used her experience and position in the industry to seek greater clarity about the script and understand how her character would be presented on screen. Her reported remarks have sparked fresh discussions online, with some questioning why the controversy has resurfaced months later, while others are debating whether similar scenes in other films receive the same level of scrutiny.
