Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has once again voiced his opposition to the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections. He said his party would continue to oppose EVMs even if it won all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Varanasi, Yadav clarified that his party’s position on EVMs was independent of election results.
Yadav said the Samajwadi Party wanted EVMs to be removed from the electoral process and would continue to maintain this demand regardless of its electoral performance. His remarks have brought the debate over EVMs and electoral transparency back into the political spotlight. Several opposition leaders have also raised concerns about the voting system and called for changes to the existing electoral process.
