After successfully conducting the municipal elections, the Andhra Pradesh election machinery has turned its focus to the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections. Authorities have made extensive arrangements for Thursday’s polling and distributed election materials to polling personnel. In view of Cyclone Murasu, the State Election Commission (SEC) has instructed district collectors to continuously monitor weather conditions and local developments. The SEC said it would obtain ground-level reports and take appropriate decisions if any difficulties arise.
Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta said advance plans had been prepared to ensure peaceful polling, with special attention to managing voter queues and deploying additional security forces wherever necessary. SEC Secretary Mallikarjuna said around 2.81 crore voters would exercise their franchise at 31,460 polling stations, with nearly 2.52 lakh personnel assigned to election duties. Special monitoring is underway in West Godavari, Guntur and Bapatla districts due to heavy rain concerns. Panchayat Raj Commissioner Krishna Teja said 2,051 of the 9,821 MPTC seats and 77 of the 659 ZPTC seats had been elected unanimously. Polling will be held for the remaining 7,770 MPTC and 582 ZPTC seats.
