The political heat in West Bengal has intensified as the state heads towards assembly elections, with a war of words continuing between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made sensational remarks during an election campaign in Purulia, alleging that if the BJP comes to power in the state, people may face restrictions on their food habits, including consumption of fish, meat, and eggs.
She further accused the BJP of promoting divisive politics and claimed that incidents of violence are higher in BJP-ruled states. Mamata Banerjee asserted that her party stands for peace, humanity, and inclusiveness, and warned that any attempt to disrupt Bengal’s harmony would have political consequences. She also expressed confidence about returning to power for a fourth consecutive term and criticized the Election Commission, alleging bias, as the state prepares for polls next month.
