The draft of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Telangana has revealed striking figures from constituencies in Hyderabad. In Malakpet, which has 3,30,191 registered votes, 1,31,354 votes were polled in the 2023 Assembly elections and 1,35,807 in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the SIR draft reportedly lists 1,47,799 votes for deletion. In Yakatpura, out of 3,74,948 total votes, 1,39,990 were polled in 2023 and 1,56,341 in 2024, while 1,54,982 votes have reportedly been included in the deletion list.
Across 15 constituencies in Greater Hyderabad, 21,72,111 votes were polled in the 2023 Assembly elections, while 19,41,444 votes have reportedly been included in the SIR deletion list. The fact that the number of votes marked for deletion is higher than the votes polled in the last elections in Yakatpura and Malakpet has triggered discussion among political leaders. Several leaders have called for greater clarity on the figures and the reasons behind the proposed deletions.
