Yash’s latest film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has received mixed reactions, with its box-office performance also becoming a talking point. Amid the discussion, producer Allu Aravind’s old remark, “Who was Yash before KGF?”, resurfaced. Yash’s mother Pushpa Arun Kumar recently responded to the comment, defending her son’s journey and achievements in Kannada cinema before KGF.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now entered the debate, defending Allu Aravind’s statement. RGV said the producer’s comment was made in the context of how big films can turn relatively lesser-known actors into major stars. He cited Prabhas before Baahubali and Rishab Shetty before Kantara as examples, while also pointing to Hollywood’s focus on concepts, scripts and filmmaking rather than relying solely on star power.
