Ease Visa Rules for Telangana NRIs- MLC Ravinder Rao

BRS MLC Thakkellapalli Ravinder Rao has urged US Congress representatives to consider relaxations in visa regulations for Telangana NRIs living in the United States for IT and software jobs, higher education and other purposes. As part of a study tour on parliamentary functioning in different countries, Ravinder Rao met Virginia’s 10th Congressional District Representative Suhas Subramanyam and 11th District Representative James Walkinshaw. He explained the movement for the formation of Telangana and the role played by BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao in mobilising people for the separate state. He also discussed the functioning of the US legislature and how elected representatives take public issues to the government for resolution.

During the meetings, Ravinder Rao said more than 12 lakh Telugu people live in the US, including around six lakh people from Telangana, and highlighted the difficulties faced by Telangana families with tourist visas. He requested the representatives to raise the issue in Congress and explore relaxations across different categories of visas for Telangana people, considering their special circumstances, besides seeking a reduction in the $1,000 fee. According to the statement, the US Congress representatives responded positively and assured him that they would consider the request. Social analyst Puli Ravi and Dr. Biksham Gujja were also present during the meetings.
