The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a notice to YSR Congress Party MP Mithun Reddy in connection with the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case, directing him to appear for questioning on January 23.
Earlier, the ED had also summoned former YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy to appear for inquiry on January 22 in the same case. The agency is probing allegations related to the diversion of revenue generated from liquor sales in violation of established norms.
According to sources, Mithun Reddy was summoned as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged liquor policy irregularities in Andhra Pradesh. He was previously arrested by the state’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) and later released on bail by the court.
The case revolves around alleged large-scale irregularities involving the excise policy, coercion of suppliers, and kickbacks from distilleries and distributors, amounting to thousands of crores of rupees. The SIT has alleged that Mithun Reddy played a role in the policy formulation process and manipulated it to benefit certain liquor suppliers.
The SIT further claimed that he influenced officials, participated in key meetings, and was involved in decisions that allegedly caused losses to the state exchequer. After spending nearly 71 days in custody, Mithun Reddy was granted bail by the court in late September 2025.
