Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind has criticised the Congress government in Telangana over its handling of farmers’ issues, alleging that their situation has worsened. He claimed that despite the anticipated impact of El Niño, the government had failed to take timely precautionary measures. Arvind demanded that the government announce compensation of ₹50,000 per acre for farmers before taking a decision on declaring a crop holiday. Speaking at a media conference in Nizamabad, he also alleged corruption in changes made to irrigation project designs and accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of protecting each other. He further made remarks about BRS leader K. T. Rama Rao’s political future and claimed that the Congress high command was seriously concerned about Revanth Reddy’s conduct.
Arvind expressed confidence that the BJP would defeat both the Congress and the BRS in the 2029 elections, predicting a major electoral wave in favour of his party. He ruled out alliances with other parties and said the BJP would begin implementing its promises if it came to power. He particularly promised to take steps to ensure a price of ₹50,000 per quintal for turmeric farmers, adding that he was willing to provide the assurance on bond paper if necessary. Arvind also blamed the Telangana government for delays in railway bridge construction and announced that the BJP would soon launch a protest over the Madhavanagar Railway Over Bridge (ROB) in Nizamabad. He said the party would put pressure on the government to resolve public difficulties. His remarks on farmers’ compensation, turmeric prices, irrigation projects and railway infrastructure have sparked political discussion in the state.
