The office of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has issued a strong warning over a fake WhatsApp channel circulating misleading information, including reports about his alleged resignation. The Deputy Chief Minister’s Office clarified that the channel operating under the name ‘Deputy CMO, Andhra Pradesh’ is not an official channel associated with its office. According to the office, the channel has been misusing its name and identity to spread misleading content and unrelated information, potentially confusing the public. It warned that falsely presenting an unofficial platform as a government office and deliberately spreading misinformation would not be tolerated.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s Office also stated that steps had been initiated to facilitate the registration of an FIR in connection with the fake channel and that legal action would be taken against those responsible. The public has been urged not to trust or follow the unauthorised channel or forward its content to others. For accurate information and official updates, people have been advised to rely only on the Deputy Chief Minister’s verified social media accounts and officially recognised WhatsApp channel. The office reiterated that misuse of the identity of a government institution would be dealt with seriously and that those responsible would face action in accordance with the law.
