The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legal Cell has issued legal notices to three Congress leaders over allegations that they circulated misleading claims that water from the Konda Pochamma Sagar reservoir had been diverted to the farmhouse of BRS chief and Telangana’s first Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The notices were sent to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna. BRS general secretary and Legal Cell in-charge Soma Bharat Kumar issued the notices. According to the party, similar notices had previously been sent to the management and editor of the Telugu daily Velugu over the same issue.
The BRS Legal Cell has demanded that the leaders immediately and unconditionally remove the relevant posts from their social media accounts and withdraw the alleged misleading claims. It stated that the party would not tolerate attempts to mislead the public through what it described as baseless allegations concerning Telangana’s irrigation projects. The legal cell also warned that failure to respond to the notices could lead to further legal action under applicable laws, including defamation proceedings. Details of any response from the Congress leaders to the notices were not available in the information provided.
