Telangana farmers are in deep distress as continuous rains triggered by Cyclone Montha have wreaked havoc across districts like Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Husnabad. Crops have been submerged, and heaps of harvested paddy at market yards have been washed away. Heartbreaking visuals of farmers watching their year-long toil being destroyed by floods are going viral on social media. Many farmers were seen trying to salvage soaked paddy with their bare hands, pleading for government support. One particular incident in Husnabad moved everyone — a woman farmer broke down before the district collector, crying that she had planned her daughter’s marriage with the money from her paddy sales, but now everything was gone.
Party workers and local leaders are increasingly concerned, urging CM Revanth Reddy to personally visit the flood-affected regions. “The situation on the ground is alarming. Farmers need assurance directly from the Chief Minister. Sitting in the Secretariat won’t help now,” they said. They warn that if the government delays action, the opposition might use this situation to their advantage. Immediate field visits and farmer outreach by CM Revanth are being demanded from within his own party ranks.
