Raksha Bandhan Takes Political Turn in Telugu States

Raksha Bandhan celebrations in the Telugu states have brought renewed attention to the relationships between siblings in two prominent political families. In Telangana, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao was reportedly away on a foreign trip, which meant that his sister Kavitha could not tie the traditional rakhi to him on the festival day. Their absence from the customary celebration became a talking point among political circles and the public.

A similar situation was seen in the YS family in Andhra Pradesh. Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was reportedly at his Tadepalli residence, but his sister YS Sharmila did not tie him a rakhi amid their ongoing family and political differences. The contrasting situations in the two influential political families on a festival traditionally associated with sibling affection and bonding have generated considerable discussion in the Telugu states.
