The breach of the Rayalacheruvu tank in Tirupati district, caused by Cyclone Montha, has led to severe flooding in nearby villages. The sudden rush of water submerged houses and farmlands, resulting in heavy losses, especially the death of several cattle. Thanks to precautionary measures by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, loss of human life was avoided. However, crops and livestock suffered extensive damage, leaving farmers in distress as thousands of acres of farmland were submerged. The state government has already started supporting cyclone victims by providing ₹3,000 cash assistance, rice, and essential supplies.
In response to the Rayalacheruvu breach, the government has issued fresh orders to extend special financial aid to affected families and livestock owners. Disaster Management Special Chief Secretary G. Jayalakshmi issued GO RT No.125, approving relief measures. The breach occurred on November 6 near Valluru village in KVB Puram mandal, flooding Kalthuru Harijanawada, SL Puram, and Patapalem villages. Over 1,100 cattle were reported dead due to the flooding. A total of 960 families will receive ₹3,000 each as immediate financial relief, and ₹2.95 crore has been sanctioned as compensation for livestock losses.
The villagers expressed gratitude to the government, appreciating its timely response and support during their difficult times.
