Political controversy continues over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s use of the term ‘Dimagi Naxals’ during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort. Opposition parties criticised the remark, saying it was aimed at supporters of Maoist ideology. The controversy intensified after the Karnataka BJP’s official X account posted a message stating that it would fight ‘Dimagi Naxals’ and attached a gunfire sequence from KGF Chapter 2. The clip features Yash’s character firing at a group of opponents.
Earlier, the Chhattisgarh BJP had used a clip from the web series Mirzapur while posting a message about ‘Dimagi Naxals’. The Karnataka BJP subsequently responded with the KGF Chapter 2 clip. The use of such cinematic scenes by official political party accounts has drawn criticism from democratic groups and political commentators. Critics argued that references to violence or force in political messaging could be perceived as threatening those who question government policies or disagree with them.
