Former U.S. President Donald Trump, during a defense review meeting today, stated that “U.S. forces have completely destroyed Iran’s military capabilities.” He added that Iran has now become a “crippled nation” and that such a country will no longer pose any threat to the world.
Trump further mentioned that U.S. strikes are continuing along Iran’s coastal regions and that the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz will soon be reopened by the U.S. He assured that the route will be maintained in a safer and freer manner. He also called on countries including China, France, Japan, South Korea and the U.K. to actively participate in the operation and help protect commercial shipping.
Following this announcement, tensions in the Middle East are expected to rise further. With Iran’s naval and air force bases reportedly destroyed, the reopening of the Hormuz route could restore oil supply flows. The U.S. has already deployed its aircraft carriers and Marine forces to the region, consolidating its presence and asserting control over strategic operations.
