Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals, has landed in controversy after a video of him vaping in the dressing room went viral during a match against Punjab Kings. Parag scored 29 runs off 16 balls in the chase before getting out, after which the incident reportedly took place. The visuals triggered widespread criticism on social media, with many questioning his conduct despite constant camera surveillance at the venue.
Sources from the IPL indicated that Board of Control for Cricket in India may take action as per regulations. Notably, the Government of India banned the production and sale of e-cigarettes in 2019, with violations attracting penalties including up to one year of imprisonment or a fine of ₹1 lakh.
The Rajasthan Royals management has not yet responded to the issue. Earlier in the tournament, during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Royals team manager Romi Bindra was fined ₹1 lakh for using a phone in the dugout in violation of rules.
