Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu is moving towards the Andhra Pradesh coast over the west-central Bay of Bengal. According to the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, the storm was centred at 8.30 am on November 2, around 160 km southeast of Nellore, 180 km southeast of Kavali and 210 km southeast of Ongole. It moved west-northwestwards at a speed of 22 kmph during the previous six hours. The IMD has forecast that the cyclone is likely to cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur, south of Ongole, from midnight on November 2 to the early hours of November 3.
Winds of 100–110 kmph are expected during landfall, with gusts reaching up to 120 kmph. Rough sea conditions and possible coastal inundation have raised concerns in vulnerable coastal areas, including Bapatla and Krishna. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely in parts of West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Markapuram and Nellore districts. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and strictly follow official warnings and safety instructions.
