Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to take comprehensive measures to transform Hyderabad into a clean and traffic-free city. During a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence on Monday, the Chief Minister discussed urban cleanliness, waste collection, treated water supply and traffic management. He instructed officials to ensure that garbage does not accumulate anywhere in the city and that door-to-door waste collection is carried out every day. He also called for strict action against those who neglect their duties and directed officials to make special arrangements for the transportation of construction waste. He further stressed the need for coordination with industrial area local bodies to improve waste collection in industrial zones.
The Chief Minister also asked officials to create awareness about using green water tankers to supply treated water from sewage treatment plants for construction activities, park maintenance, landscaping and gardening. He said using treated wastewater instead of drinking water for such purposes would help conserve potable water. He recalled that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board had introduced services through 28 green water tankers from 19 sewage treatment plants in the first phase. He called for expanding the supply of treated water across the GHMC and other municipal corporation limits. On traffic management, Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare plans for underpasses and elevated corridors wherever necessary to reduce congestion. He also stressed ensuring smoother vehicle movement at traffic signals, wherever feasible. MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister’s Secretary Manick Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G. Srijana and other officials attended the meeting.
