Megastar Chiranjeevi has raised concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create obscene and morphed videos targeting artists. Taking the issue beyond social media, the actor met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hyderabad and urged him to take steps to curb such practices. Chiranjeevi’s son and actor Ram Charan also accompanied him during the meeting. The development comes after Chiranjeevi recently expressed concern on X over the circulation of manipulated and inappropriate videos involving artists.
During the meeting, Chiranjeevi reportedly explained how the misuse of AI and deepfake technology threatens the dignity and rights of artists, as well as their creative work. He called for stronger safeguards and strict penalties to prevent such exploitation, stressing the need for measures that go beyond action by individual social media platforms. Amit Shah reportedly responded positively and assured him that the government would examine the issue. He also advised Chiranjeevi to submit a formal written representation and assigned Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy the responsibility of coordinating the matter. Chiranjeevi thanked the Home Minister for his response and expressed hope that stronger protections would soon be put in place for members of the film industry.
