Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Prashant Bhushan has alleged that media network NDTV is continuing to operate despite heavy financial losses due to alleged backing from industrialist Gautam Adani and support from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. His remarks came after a Reuters report highlighted that NDTV has recorded its 10th consecutive quarterly loss amid rising operational costs.
Bhushan stated that sustaining what he described as a “propaganda channel” requires significant financial and political backing, triggering renewed debate over media ownership, independence, and editorial freedom in India. NDTV, however, has previously maintained that its losses are due to increased expenses and evolving market conditions.
