

In a heartbreaking incident early Friday, a private travel bus caught fire after colliding with a two-wheeler near Ulindapadu on the outskirts of Kurnool district. The accident claimed 20 lives and left several others seriously injured.According to Kurnool District Collector Dr. A. Siri, all 12 victims have been identified, while both drivers escaped unhurt. The ill-fated V Kaveri Travels bus was heading from Hyderabad to Bengaluru with around 40 passengers on board when the collision sparked a massive blaze.Several passengers managed to break the emergency windows and escape, while others were trapped inside as the flames spread rapidly. Preliminary investigations suggest the AC bus caught fire after the impact during heavy rainfall.
Emergency teams quickly arrived at the spot, with DIG Dr. Koya Praveen, SP Vikrant Patil, and Joint Collector Nurul Quamar supervising rescue efforts. Around ten injured individuals have been admitted to Kurnool Government General Hospital for treatment.Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for survivors. Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy also extended condolences and instructed his administration to coordinate relief efforts with Andhra Pradesh authorities.Authorities have begun setting up a helpline for victims’ families and are monitoring the situation closely.
