A grand statue of legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam has been unveiled in Kerala, adding another honor to his remarkable legacy. The 10 foot bronze statue was inaugurated at the V.T. Bhattathiripad Cultural Centre in Palakkad in the presence of his family members, music personalities, and fans. The event was attended by his son S. P. Charan, along with renowned artists like M. M. Keeravani, Mano, K. S. Chithra, Hariharan, Sujatha Mohan, and Vijay Yesudas.
On this occasion, a special musical tribute titled “Sangeetha Megham” was organized, where artists paid homage through their performances. Sculptor Unni Kanayi crafted the statue with great detail. Fans expressed that honoring SPB in Kerala without any controversy reflects the universal love for his music beyond regional boundaries. Having sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages and earning a Guinness World Record, SPB’s contribution as a singer, actor, composer, and dubbing artist remains unmatched. Though he passed away in 2020, his voice continues to live on in the hearts of music lovers.
