Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of selectively speaking about religion and temples for electoral gains. Addressing corner meetings in Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts of Kerala, Rahul Gandhi remarked that Modi often speaks about temples and religion wherever he goes but appeared to have “forgotten” to address the alleged Sabarimala gold controversy during his recent Palakkad speech. He sarcastically suggested that the Prime Minister ignored allegations regarding the replacement of gold plates with brass at the Ayyappa temple.
Rahul Gandhi further alleged that the BJP and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) were working together in Kerala, claiming that the LDF no longer behaves like a true Left party but functions like an organization seeking profit, similar to the BJP. He asserted that the BJP does not want Congress to come to power in Kerala, as it is the only party challenging them nationally. He also accused the LDF government of corruption and questioned why no cases were registered against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while he himself faces multiple cases and prolonged interrogations. During his speech, Rahul even sang a popular political song referencing the alleged gold theft issue and expressed hope that Kerala would one day have a woman Chief Minister.
