Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh has witnessed historic achievements in national highway construction. As part of the Bangalore-Kadapa-Vijayawada (BKV) Economic Corridor, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has secured four Guinness World Records. NHAI, in collaboration with Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd., achieved four world records on a single highway stretch, showcasing exceptional engineering skills. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu personally congratulated NHAI officials, the state machinery, and Rajpath Infracon for their remarkable work.
The record-breaking construction took place in the Vaanavolu-Vankarukunta-Odulapalle section (Package 2 and 3) in Satyasai district, Puttaparthi area. From January 5, 10:07 AM to January 11, just six days, 52 kilometers (156 lane kilometers) of road were completed. During this process, 57,500 metric tons of bituminous concrete were laid, surpassing the previous record of 84.4 lane kilometers. On January 6, two additional Guinness records were set in the same corridor: 28.896 lane kilometers of bituminous concrete in 24 hours and the use of 10,655 metric tons of concrete, marking a global milestone. With these achievements, a total of four Guinness records have been registered for this economic corridor.
Seventy tippers, five hot mix plants, seventeen rollers, and advanced sensor pavers were deployed to ensure high-quality construction. Prestigious institutions like IIT Bombay oversaw construction quality. Once completed, the corridor will reduce the travel distance between Bangalore and Vijayawada by 100 kilometers and the travel time by approximately four hours. Following the Chief Minister’s guidance, the remaining works will be completed quickly to make the corridor fully operational.
