A massive forest fire broke out in the Seshachalam forest area near the holy town of Tirupati. The incident occurred near Jeevakona within the Sri Venkateswara Wildlife Sanctuary. The fire spread suddenly and burned nearly 2 kilometers of forest land. Flames quickly moved from Mondodikona to Thimminayudukona, destroying many valuable trees and medicinal plants. Frightened wild animals were seen running away from the area.
Forest officials, fire department teams and local people rushed to the spot and are working hard to control the fire. However, due to the hilly terrain and lack of proper roads, fire engines are facing difficulty in reaching the location. Strong winds are making the situation worse by spreading the flames to nearby hills. Officials say it may take more time to fully control the fire, but thankfully, no human casualties have been reported so far.
Even though there is no loss of life, the forest has suffered heavy damage. Officials suspect that the fire may have started due to dry leaves catching fire in the intense heat or possibly due to human negligence. Since the area is known for red sanders reserves, security has been increased and precautionary steps have been taken to protect nearby storage areas.
