The film Raja Shivaji unfolds with a childhood moment in which Shivaji questions, “Why do we not have a flag of our own?” In response, his brother explains that self-rule is the first requirement for having a flag, and rebellion is the path to achieving that freedom. Inspired by those words, Shivaji’s heroic struggle for Swarajya on the Maratha land forms the core of the story. The film features Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role, while he has also directed the project himself. It has been jointly produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh.
Riteish Deshmukh recently shared the film’s trailer on social media, describing it as “an immortal saga of strength, skill, and dedication presented with pride.” Powerful dialogues such as, “Thousands of inspiring stars may fade into darkness, but a sun with a vision like yours must rise to usher in a new era,” have drawn attention from audiences. The trailer showcases Shivaji’s fierce battles against invaders who sought to destroy the Maratha Empire, along with grand war sequences that have heightened excitement for the film. Based on the life story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the movie is scheduled for release on May 1. The cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Genelia in key roles.
