

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya stated that for India to emerge as a developed nation, its citizens must be physically strong and healthy. He inaugurated the “Sunday on Cycle” programme yesterday at the banks of Dal Lake. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the initiative carries an important message of promoting health and fitness awareness among the public. He added that only a healthy population can build a strong society, and a strong society is essential for transforming India into a developed country.
The minister further announced that “Sunday on Cycle” programmes will be organised at 16,000 locations across the country to encourage physical fitness. He also said that the youth of Srinagar will now ride bicycles every Sunday to spread the message of the “Fit India” movement among the people.
