The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to restructure the state from six zones into two multi-zones, introducing significant administrative reforms. As per the new policy, 95% reservation will be given to local candidates in government jobs, while only 5% will be allocated to the open category. State-level posts such as CTO, Deputy Collector, and DSP have now been converted into multi-zonal posts. This decision follows the Presidential Order issued on December 15, 2025, and the ‘Andhra Pradesh Public Employment-2025’ notification released by the Union Home Ministry, which has now been officially published in the state gazette.
Under the revised system, employees will no longer be freely transferred across districts as before, and those seeking transfers on spouse grounds may lose seniority. The local status criteria have also been modified, recognizing candidates based on their schooling from Classes 1 to 7. Multi-Zone 1 includes districts from Zones 1, 2, and 3 such as Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and Krishna, while Multi-Zone 2 covers Zones 4, 5, and 6 including Guntur, Chittoor, and Kurnool. Employees with objections to the reorganization can submit representations within 60 days for review by a designated committee.
