The Election Commission has issued a notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over his controversial remark calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “terrorist” during Tamil Nadu election campaigning. The EC has asked Kharge to respond within 24 hours, taking the matter seriously.
A BJP delegation met the Election Commission and lodged a complaint, calling the remark a personal insult and a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Leaders including Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju, and Arjun Ram Meghwal were part of the delegation.
Kiren Rijiju stated that calling the Prime Minister a terrorist is an insult to the entire nation. Earlier, BJP had also written to the EC, citing that the remark could fall under legal provisions and demanded a public apology from Kharge.
