Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly criticized the proposed Delimitation Bill, stating that it poses a serious threat to the very existence of Tamil Nadu. He said that the state cannot trust the assurances given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the issue.
Stalin further alleged that under the guise of constitutional amendments, new conspiracies are being planned that would curtail the rights of states. He claimed that mere verbal assurances are not enough and demanded legal safeguards within Parliament. He also accused the Centre of granting excessive powers to the newly proposed commission, enabling it to manipulate seat allocation in select states for political advantage, calling it a purely political strategy rather than a national interest-driven move.
