Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said he felt proud of the speech delivered by his sister Priyanka Gandhi in the House. He stated that women play a vital role in building families and society. He noted that mothers, sisters, wives and daughters hold an important place in every person’s life. Rahul Gandhi also said that his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, was a great source of inspiration to him and taught him values such as truth and non-violence. He added that her guidance helped build his courage and self-confidence.
At the same time, Rahul Gandhi also reacted to the Women’s Reservation Bill. He said the proposal currently introduced was not the real women’s bill and that if the government truly wanted justice for women, it should withdraw the old bill and bring a fresh one. He clarified that his party would support such a bill without any objections. He criticized the present bill, alleging that it causes injustice to OBC communities. Rahul Gandhi further claimed that the bill was not introduced for women’s empowerment but for political gains.
