A protester in Imphal East, Manipur, has sparked widespread attention after questioning the country’s priorities during ongoing unrest. Speaking at a rally, the protester said that people in Manipur have been suffering for three years, while the rest of India appears focused on events like IPL and Dhurandhar. This remark quickly went viral on social media, highlighting the frustration of people living in the region.
The unrest in Manipur has intensified after two suspected militant attacks on April 7 and April 18. In the first incident, a bomb blast in Bishnupur district killed two young children and injured their mother. In another attack, a retired Army man was killed in an ambush near Litan village. These incidents led to protests, clashes with security forces, and even deaths during firing. Internet services were also restricted for some time to control the situation.
As protests continued, clashes broke out in Imphal, leaving six people injured, including security personnel. Several organisations called for shutdowns, leading to closed markets, halted transport and shutdown of schools across valley districts. People are still protesting and demanding justice, with voices growing stronger and gaining attention across the country through viral videos and social media.
