The heavy snowfall that has been lashing Jammu and Kashmir since Thursday evening is severely impacting daily life. Several areas have been completely covered in white, and key roads have been closed due to adverse weather conditions. Traffic has come to a standstill on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded. The Mughal Road, Srinagar-Leh National Highway, and Sinthan Road have also been temporarily closed.
The snowfall has disrupted railway and air services. All flight operations at Srinagar airport have been suspended. Rescue teams safely evacuated approximately 100 people who were stranded in Poonch and Udhampur districts. In some areas, the snow has accumulated up to two feet. The pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi temple was also temporarily suspended due to the snowfall. Authorities have issued warnings for six districts prone to avalanches, advising locals and tourists to remain vigilant.
