Former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy raised serious allegations about irregularities in the Tirumala Parakamani counting process during a media meeting in Tirupati. He said that these issues came to light after the coalition government came to power. According to him, on October 6, 2024, senior assistant S. Krishna Kumar made incorrect entries in the Parakamani register while recording donated money. Around 950 foreign currency notes (100 dollars each) were reportedly shown at a lower value before being handed over to TTD. While the actual value was about ₹87.21 lakh, the FIR mentioned only ₹6.74 lakh as misused money. He also questioned why an incident that happened in October had an FIR registered only on March 14, 2025, stating that the delay allowed the accused to obtain anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court.
Bhumana also said that another Parakamani employee, Penchalayya, faced 24 allegations of gold theft, yet strict action was not taken. Reports say that 555 grams of gold and 117 grams of silver were found with him. He also recalled the earlier case of Ravi Kumar, who was accused of stealing 800 dollars. In that case, Ravi Kumar reportedly handed over properties worth ₹100 crore to TTD as a form of apology.
Bhumana questioned why the government is silent about the large-scale corruption taking place. He criticized the TTD board led by B. R. Naidu, saying it failed to protect the temple’s jewelry and offerings. He also expressed concern over the deaths of devotees and cows in Tirumala, as well as the shortage of ghee. He demanded a detailed investigation by CID and ACB into the irregularities in the Parakamani counting process.
