Former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Naravane’s book Four Stars of Destiny has recently become a subject of political and public discussion. Responding to the controversy, Naravane stated that the unpublished book was unnecessarily dragged into the debate. Speaking in an interview, he indirectly criticized those who involved him personally in the issue, saying it was not appropriate.
Naravane’s another book, The Curious and the Classified: Unearthing Military Myths and Mysteries, was recently released. During the interaction, he said that the Ministry of Defence had requested that the publication of Four Stars of Destiny be put on hold until it was fully reviewed. He added that he considered the matter closed and moved on. However, he remarked that bringing an unpublished book into the public domain and creating a major controversy around it was unwarranted. The book reportedly contains references to clashes between Indian forces and Chinese troops, due to which it did not receive publication clearance. Despite this, Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had earlier taken the book to the Lok Sabha, triggering widespread debate.
