Swarna Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court has clearly stated that she will not step aside from the Delhi liquor case. She rejected the petitions filed by Arvind Kejriwal and other accused, who had asked her to withdraw from the case. The judge said she would continue the hearing and complete her duty without leaving.
She explained that judges cannot step away from a case based on baseless allegations or doubts. According to her, the petitions were based on assumptions and not supported by strong evidence. She stressed that such claims cannot be accepted in court.
Justice Sharma also said that personal attacks on a judge are equal to attacks on the entire judicial system. She added that no political leader should be allowed to harm the system without proof. She firmly stated that she will stand by the court and complete her responsibility without stepping back.
