The state government has decided to release ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme to provide investment support to farmers. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by A. Revanth Reddy with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and finance department officials. Under the scheme, farmers will receive ₹6,000 per acre, covering nearly 1.5 crore acres. The Chief Minister will release the first installment of ₹3,590 crore to 73 lakh farmers during a public meeting on the 22nd at the oil palm factory inauguration in Narmetta of Siddipet district.
According to Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, the second installment of ₹2,650 crore will be released about 20 days later, followed by a third installment of ₹2,760 crore by the end of April. He stated that despite financial constraints, the government has fulfilled its promise to support farmers. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Sheshadri, Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania and Agriculture Secretary Surendra Mohan.
Since coming to power, the Indian National Congress government has already provided investment support to farmers in three phases. With the latest release, funds will be extended for the fourth season as well. As the current Yasangi season is underway and the Vanakalam season approaches, the government believes the funds will help farmers meet their cultivation expenses. During the event at Narmetta, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate the oil palm factory and lay the foundation stone for a ₹40-crore edible oil refinery. A large number of farmers are expected to attend the gathering.
