A shocking case has emerged from the National Sanskrit University in Tirupati, where a B.Ed student has alleged that Assistant Professor Dr. Lakshmana Kumar sexually assaulted her over a period of time. According to the police complaint, the victim even became pregnant and was later threatened and sent back to her home state. Another Assistant Professor, Shekhar Reddy, is accused of recording her video and attempting to sexually harass her. Acting on these allegations, the in-charge Vice Chancellor Rajanikant Shukla filed a formal complaint with the Tirupati West Police. Investigators have seized the mobile phones of both professors and sent them for forensic examination.
Students claimed that the victim had submitted a written complaint to the former VC Krishna Murthy around ten days ago. Following this, Assistant Professor Lakshmana Kumar was suspended on December 1, and he has not reported to duty since December 2. The university has also initiated an inquiry through its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). Police have started a detailed investigation into the case, and further action is expected based on the forensic report and witness statements.
