A terror attack targeting Jewish people in Sydney has shocked the world, but amid the horror, one man’s courage stood out. Ahmed Al Ahmed, now being hailed as a real-life hero, confronted the attackers and helped save several lives. His emotional words during the incident, saying he might not survive and asking others to inform his family, have deeply moved people across the globe.
Ahmed, originally from Syria, migrated to Australia nearly a decade ago seeking a safer future. He lives with his family in southern Sydney and runs a small fruit shop. On the morning of the attack, he was at a café near Bondi Beach with his relative Joji Alkans when gunshots rang out. Despite initial fear, Ahmed gathered courage and decided to confront the attackers.
During the chaos, Ahmed managed to approach one of the gunmen from behind and snatch the weapon, forcing the attacker to flee. He was injured in the process and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital. His bravery was publicly praised by former US President Donald Trump, who said such courage was a matter of great pride and wished Ahmed a speedy recovery. The attack claimed 16 lives, with police identifying the attackers as a father and son. One was killed during the incident, while the other has been arrested as investigations continue.
